Inisherin goes confidently for the Betfair Sprint Cup

Inisherin heads a strong lineup of 22 contenders for Saturday’s Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The three-year-old, who won the Sandy Lane Stakes and the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, has not raced since his defeat as the favourite in the July Cup.

Swingalong, trained by Karl Burke, is set to race after finishing second to Mill Stream at Newmarket in July and fourth in last year’s race at Haydock.

Philip Robinson, assistant racing manager for owner Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, said: "All is going well, and we’ve had this race in mind since she ran at Newmarket. She’s improved since last year, where she was beaten by about a length and a half, and should be competitive."

Burke also has recent French winner Spycatcher and Elite Status, both owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, in the mix.

William Haggas is represented by Lake Forest, who was a late withdrawal at the York Ebor Festival, Chipchase Stakes winner Montassib, and Unequal Love.

Andrew Balding’s Flora Of Bermuda was supplemented for the race for £20,000, while other top contenders include Kinross, Jasour, Givemethebeatboys, and the consistent Shouldvebeenaring, who was narrowly beaten into second last year.

Regional, the 2023 winner, has not been confirmed to defend his title for Ed Bethell.
