Hartur D'arc savoured his time in Clonmel as he left runner-up Joshua Webb trailing by a commanding seven and a-half lengths in the final Monksgrange Beginners Chase.
The 11/10 favourite showcased supreme form, maintaining a slender lead among the four main contenders as they approached the home straight. A graceful leap two fences from the finish line propelled him to widen the gap, ultimately establishing a clear advantage at the final obstacle.
With the crowd rallying behind their favoured competitor, Hartur D'arc effortlessly cruised past his rivals, brushing them aside with finesse. Jockey Keith Donoghue expressed his satisfaction, sharing,
"This marked his inaugural outing under Gavin Cromwell's tutelage, and it was evident that he possessed ample experience. I adopted a straightforward strategy, navigating the challenging terrain with ease. His acceleration at the penultimate fence was remarkable, showcasing his prowess. While we were relatively unfamiliar with his capabilities, relying solely on his past performances, we believed this race presented a favourable opportunity for triumph. May this victory serve as a stepping stone for his future endeavours”.
Hartur D'arc had previously tasted success in a bumper race and a maiden hurdle during his tenure under the guidance of esteemed trainer Tom Gibney.
