Harry Eustace is considering the Juddmonte International at York as the next potential race for Docklands before his anticipated Australian campaign.
The four-year-old has raced three times this season, finishing as the runner-up in each event. He narrowly missed out on victory in the Paradise Stakes and the Prix de Montretout before competing at Royal Ascot. There, Docklands, a 10-1 shot for the Queen Anne Stakes, ran a commendable race to finish second behind Charyn at the Group One level, prompting a reassessment of his targets for the remainder of the year.
Eustace's primary goal is the Cox Plate, but Docklands might first compete in the Juddmonte International at York. Depending on his performance, he could even be considered for a race in Hong Kong afterwards.
Eustace reported that Docklands is in good form as he prepares for the Cox Plate, after reassessing targets following Ascot. The plan remains focused on Australia, with three quick runs earlier this year to ensure he arrives fresh. His performance could lead to further opportunities, including a possible invitation to Hong Kong.
Eustace expressed confidence in the Juddmonte International, acknowledging it will be tough but believes Docklands performs well in high-quality races. Regular jockey Hayley Turner will ride at York, while a local jockey will be selected for the Cox Plate, considering Moonee Valley's unique track conditions.
Additionally, Eustace has two other horses, Crystal Delight and Ziggy, targeting the Ebor, with potential entries in the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup if they perform well. “They’re both good prospects,” he said, indicating their Ebor performance could lead to further opportunities.
