Haggas has plenty of options for Economics

William Haggas is mulling over the idea of bringing his Dante Stakes winner, Economics, back to York for another race. He emphasised that there are many factors to consider as they plan for what could be a promising summer for the talented colt.

After finishing fourth in his only race as a juvenile at Newmarket in November, Economics got his first win as a three-year-old at Newbury in the spring. He then impressed in the Group Two race at York in May, winning by six lengths.

Despite the temptation to enter Economics in the Derby, Haggas and his team have decided to stick with races that are a mile and a quarter for now. They have plenty of options for races over that distance in the second half of the season.

Haggas sees the Sky Bet York Stakes later this month as a possible stepping stone to the Juddmonte International in August. However, if the owner prefers, they may consider the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes in September.

Speaking on Nick Luck's Daily Podcast, Haggas expressed his excitement about Economics' potential future. He believes the colt has a lot of room for improvement and could continue to excel as he matures.

As they considered their options, Haggas mentioned races like the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano in Deauville and the Juddmonte International in York. Ultimately, they will need to have discussions and make decisions about Economics' upcoming races.

Overall, Haggas is optimistic about Economics' future and is looking forward to what lies ahead for the talented colt.
