Guinea's hearing for Ghostwriter hasn't been ruled by Clive Cox yet

Clive Cox is "open-minded" about prepping his undefeated horse Ghostwriter for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The son of Invincible Spirit won all three of his juvenile outings, including the Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket in September.

Cox is pleased with his charge's wintering and is preparing the Jeff Smith-owned three-year-old for Classic success on the first Saturday in May.

"Ghostwriter is really pleasing me. We've had a great winter with him, and he's trained well through the spring," said Lambourn's trainer.

A trial? I'm still determining. We're open-minded. We need him on fire for the Guineas in the first week of May, and the going will decide whether or not we have a trial or a racecourse gallop.

Ghostwriter is entered in the Derby at Epsom on June 1, and Cox expects him to go further than the Guineas straight mile.

He said: "He won over a mile at two, and being out of a Champs Elysees mare, he could stay further.

He's entered in the Dante, so we're considering longer travels, but he's got class to win like he did at two, so we'll see how it goes.

He's flexible, but he's only run on faster ground.
