Big Rock will aim to bounce back from a disappointing run in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot later in the summer at Deauville. The four-year-old had a fantastic win in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last season but has not been able to replicate that form since joining Maurizio Guarnieri's yard.
After a lacklustre performance in the Lockinge at Newbury, hopes were high for Big Rock's return to form at Royal Ascot. However, he faded down the stretch and finished 10th. Guarnieri believes the tactics on the fast ground did not work in Big Rock's favour and hopes for a better showing on a softer surface at Deauville.
Guarnieri is considering entering Big Rock in either the Prix Jacques le Marois or a lower-class race at Deauville to boost his confidence. Blue Rose Cen, another horse in Guarnieri's yard, also had a tough outing at Royal Ascot in the Prince of Wales's Stakes.
Despite their setbacks, both horses are expected to compete at Deauville in August. Guarnieri believes Blue Rose Cen has a better chance against fillies and is eyeing the Prix Jean Romanet for her next race.
