Great Generation is on the way to the Prix Maurice de Gheest

Marco Botti is looking at the Prix Maurice de Gheest for Great Generation after her strong performance in the Summer Stakes at York. The Holy Roman Emperor filly has shown consistency in her career so far, with wins in her first two starts and a second-place finish in the Firth of Clyde at Ayr to close out her juvenile season.

After starting this season at Deauville with a fourth-place finish in the Prix Imprudence, she went on to win the Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield in May. Returning to the track at York, Great Generation finished fourth in the Summer Stakes, just a length behind the winner despite the soft ground.

Botti was pleased with her performance and is now looking forward to the Prix Maurice de Gheest on August 4. Despite the tough competition against older horses, Botti believes the six-and-a-half furlong distance is worth a shot for the Great Generation.

Folgaria, another talented filly from Botti's yard, will be stepping back to seven furlongs for the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury on August 17. After a sixth-place finish in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, Botti feels that the mile distance may be too long for her and is looking forward to seeing her perform at her preferred distance.
