A full sister to dual Group One winner, Charyn will be joining the Godolphin team after Sheikh Mohammed’s operation secured her for 2.9 million guineas on day two of the Book One sale at Tattersalls.
The day saw several high-value purchases, including Amo Racing’s Kia Joorabchian, who spent over 12 million guineas across 13 lots, with his standout by being a 4.4 million guineas daughter of Frankel out of Aljazzi. Among the sought-after horses was Grangemore Stud’s daughter of Dark Angel, out of Futon, with Nurlan Bizkov—Charyn’s owner—also in the bidding alongside Godolphin’s Anthony Stroud.
What became a duel between Amo and Godolphin ended in Stroud’s favour, much to the delight of Grangemore’s Guy O’Callaghan. He expressed his excitement, saying, "It’s a dream come true for a breeder, watching Amo and Godolphin go head to head. She never faltered under pressure and showed her quality each time."
In addition to this acquisition, Godolphin further bolstered its stable with several notable purchases. These included a 1.5 million guineas Too Darn Hot half-brother to American Grade Two winner Idea Generation, a Dubawi colt out of Group One winner Molly Malone, and a 2 million guineas colt by Dubawi out of Lady Bowthorpe.
Lady Bowthorpe’s owner, Emma Banks, was thrilled with the result, describing the moment as surreal. "You dream of these things, and seeing it happen was incredible. I’m so proud of the colt and Lady Bowthorpe—it’s all because of her."
Other significant sales included an 800,000 guineas half-brother to Classic winner Mac Swiney, and a full-brother to Irish Derby and St Leger winner Hurricane Lane, sold to Blandford Bloodstock for 850,000 guineas. Additionally, Yulong purchased a Dubawi colt out of Group One winner Loving Dream for 1.1 million guineas.
