George Baker is aiming for more success with Get It, who is set for a swift return to action at Windsor on Monday.
The six-year-old secured his eighth career win in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood, taking home the £128,850 prize at 40-1 under Pat Cosgrave. This victory was particularly significant for Baker, a Sussex native who has long admired the race.
Baker is pleased with Get It’s condition post-Goodwood and is considering the £38,655 Fitzdares Sprint Series Final Handicap at Windsor, a race Get It qualified for with a win in June.
Baker stated that the horse is in excellent condition, having only lost 3 kg, indicating a relatively easy race. Despite the unusually quick turnaround for a Stewards' Cup winner, the horse is showing positive signs for the Fitzdares Sprint Final. He mentioned that Get It qualified for the race and, although facing challenges with top weight, they view it as a valuable opportunity after their Stewards' Cup win.
After Windsor, Get It may stop at Doncaster before potentially returning to Bahrain, where he typically spends winters. Baker noted that if the horse races on Monday, they can give him a break before aiming for Portland and then freshening him up for Bahrain.
