Gale Mahler is taking a well-earned break after extending her winning streak to six at the Galway Festival last week.
Adrian Keatley's mare has shown remarkable progress this summer, starting with bumper wins at Southwell and Kelso in May before transitioning to hurdling. Her victories at Market Rasen and Uttoxeter set the stage for her Irish challenge, where she dominated a competitive field from top trainers like Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott. Under Henry Brooke, she won by a decisive 10 lengths, showcasing her potential.
Keatley remarked that Gale Mahler emerged from the race in excellent condition and expressed their satisfaction with her performance. She is now enjoying a well-deserved five to six-week break. Upon her return, the focus will shift to spring targets.
He also noted that she will not be run on heavy ground during the winter. Instead, a few carefully chosen races will be selected to assess her level. With the Irish handicapper rating her at 135, which reflects her quality, there is optimism for more progress. Major spring festivals are on the radar, and while a return to Galway is possible, plans will be made based on how she performs when she comes back.
