Friendly Soul, owned by John and Thady Gosden, is bringing her perfect record to the York Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on Wednesday.
The Kingman filly, who won a Kempton maiden late in the previous year and then made a comeback at listed level on the Rowley Mile at the Guineas meeting, is winless in her two outings.
She began at 10-1 under Kieran Shoemark and showed her ability to handle the rise in class by impressing with a length and a quarter of a victory ahead of Andrew Balding's well-regarded Kalpana.
Taking a step up to a mile and a quarter, Friendly Soul's performance was visually stunning as the third-placed a further 12 lengths behind.
She will now be tried for the first time at Group Three level on the Knavesmire, where she will race more than half a furlong and be teamed by Shoemark once more.
The jockey said: “She was very impressive on her second start at Newmarket 10 days ago. She’ll hopefully improve plenty, and I look forward to riding her on a lovely galloping track at York.”
With Forest Fairy and You Got To Me, Ralph Beckett has proven successful in the Oaks trials thus far this year. He also has two contenders for the Musidora, Salisbury novice winner La Pasionaria and Fillies’ Mile Fourth Classical Song.
Both are making their seasonal debuts and Rossa Ryan, who rode the latter mare on her last 2023 start, will accompany her.
Mayfair, a Justify filly by the Cheveley Park winner Clemmie, the mare of Galileo, is saddled by Aidan O'Brien.
The chestnut, who is yet to win a race, was only just defeated in her two appearances this year at a distance of seven furlongs. She finished fourth to a later Group performance in Purple Lily on her debut.
She now takes the lead in the journey, and O'Brien hopes the longer distance will suit her.
