Trainer Gavin Cromwell is carefully mapping out Flooring Porter’s season, eyeing the Grand National at Aintree as the ultimate goal. Flooring Porter may run next in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan, though Cromwell is also considering waiting for the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January. Flooring Porter's recent Kerry National win saw his handicap weight rise significantly, complicating his journey toward the Grand National.
"Flooring Porter could run in the Lismullen, but he’s not a certain starter. Keith (Donoghue) rode him brilliantly in the Kerry National, though he went up a stone for it," Cromwell shared at the Navan Racing Festival launch. "He’s been a fantastic servant, but he requires managing. He’s small for a true winter chaser, yet he’s very high in the handicap."
Looking ahead to the Bar One Racing Troytown Chase at Navan, Cromwell plans to run several hopefuls, including Perceval Legallois and Yeah Man.
