Field Of Gold is poised for a step-up in class

Field Of Gold is poised for a step up in class after a commanding maiden victory at Newmarket.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the promising Juddmonte-owned colt initially finished a respectable third on debut at Doncaster behind the talented New Century. However, he showcased his potential with an impressive win on the July course.

The son of Kingman, who was bought for €530,000 as a foal, pulled clear of his rivals under Kieran Shoemark, leaving a strong impression on all involved.

Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s European racing manager, praised Field Of Gold, noting the horse's impressive acceleration and potential for greatness under John and Thady Gosden. Future plans are undecided, but connections are considering the Tattersalls Acomb Stakes on August 21 and the Sky Bet Solario Stakes on August 31 as possible next steps after his maiden win and solid third place in his first novice race. Mahon emphasised the need for a step-up in competition.
