Fallen Angel, winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas, is set to return to racing in the Coolmore America “Justify” Matron Stakes next month.
Karl Burke’s daughter of Too Darn Hot had only finished outside the top two once in her six-start career, when she was a beaten favourite in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this season.
She made amends with a Classic win at the Curragh but missed the chance to face her generation’s best in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot due to a setback that sidelined her during the summer.
Burke confirmed that she’s now back in good shape at his North Yorkshire stable and aims to have her ready for the Group One feature at Leopardstown during Irish Champions Weekend. There’s also the possibility of stepping her up in distance at the Arc meeting in Paris.
Burke noted that Fallen Angel is in excellent condition and, with any luck, appears to have resolved all her previous issues. He mentioned that she is moving well and is on track for the Matron Stakes, which will be her next race. Burke also indicated that she might step up to 10 furlongs afterwards, potentially targeting the Prix de l’Opera on Arc weekend.
He praised her performance in the Irish Guineas. Burke expressed that they would likely avoid very fast ground in the future, noting that Ascot might not have been the ideal setting for her this year. He believes that sometimes such events happen for a reason and remains hopeful that she will continue racing next year.
