Fabre Targets King George for Sosie After Challenging Arc Run

Sosie is set to remain in training as a four-year-old, with the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot a likely summer target.

Trained by Andre Fabre, Sosie entered the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as the favourite, hoping to add to his Grand Prix de Paris victory and Fabre's illustrious Arc record. However, as anticipated, the soft ground proved challenging, and Sosie was unable to produce his trademark acceleration, finishing fourth behind Ralph Beckett’s Bluestocking.

Fabre also saddled Sevenna’s Knight, who performed well to finish fifth, and the multiple Group One-winning mare Mqse De Sevigne, whose career finale was hampered after interference from the injured Haya Zark, leaving her towards the back of the field.

"All three are fine after the race. It was probably the ground that stopped Sosie," Fabre explained. "He lost his action towards the end but still ran well, considering we knew the ground might not suit him."

Looking ahead, Fabre said, "Sosie will stay in training next year, and we’ll target the major summer races, including the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and the King George at Ascot."

Fabre was pleased with Sevenna’s Knight's performance, adding, "He ran a good race, especially since he enjoys soft ground. He came from the back and ran really well. He’s a good horse, and we’ll likely aim him at the Prix Royal-Oak next."

On Mqse De Sevigne, Fabre reflected on her unfortunate run: "Her race was over at the start. She was drawn wide, lost too much ground early, and had no chance after being hampered. It’s a shame for her to end her career this way."

Fabre's other runner, Tribalist, dropped to seven furlongs for the Prix de la Foret but struggled to keep up, finishing 10th. "The trip was too short for Tribalist. He couldn’t control the pace against the faster horses. He won’t be going to the Breeders’ Cup—I won’t have a runner there," Fabre concluded.
