André Fabre believes that the longer distance of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will enhance Mqse De Sevigne's performance.
The five-time Group One winner has yet to race over the mile and a half she'll tackle at ParisLongchamp next month.
Unbeaten this season, she has claimed victories in both the Prix Rothschild and the Prix Jean Romanet, but her main competition may come from stablemate Sosie.
Sosie recently surged to the top of the Arc betting after a strong win against Prix du Jockey Club champion Look De Vega in the Prix Niel.
“They are both doing well; they worked well this morning, and I was very pleased with them,” said Fabre, who holds the record for eight Arc victories.
“I’m optimistic about the mare. Many believe the Arc might be too far for her, but I see it differently. I think the extra two furlongs will actually benefit her. She thrives on soft ground, and her talent is unquestionable. She’ll adapt well to the course and distance. She’s in great shape. Sosie is a nice horse as well and is improving at the right time. If the ground is very heavy, that might not suit him, but soft ground will be fine. He reminds me of some horses I’ve had that won the Arc, peaking at just the right moment. I wouldn’t want to pick one over the other, but I believe both have a solid chance of finishing in the top four.”
