David O’Meara appears to have an exceptionally promising prospect in Estrange, who made an impressive debut at Goodwood.
Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, the filly, a relative of St Leger winner Logician, made her debut late in her three-year-old season in the Darley EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
Ridden by Danny Tudhope, Estrange showed some signs of inexperience early in the race. However, as the pace quickened, she moved smoothly into contention.
What truly distinguished her was her performance in the final two furlongs. Estrange surged ahead with ease, ultimately winning by a comfortable five and a half lengths from the 78-rated Lasting Love, while appearing to be eased down.
Tudhope commented to Racing TV on the 11-4 joint-favourite, “She was very professional beforehand. Despite being drawn wide, she travelled well throughout. She needed a bit of assistance around the top bend and down the hill, but once I got into her, she responded brilliantly—it was an impressive performance. She has a nice way of going; she doesn’t overcomplicate things, just does what’s required, which makes my job easier. She has a great mind, and there’s a lot to like about her.”
