En Or made a dramatic late surge from last to first in the extended two-mile Camida Advantage Tipperary Cup Handicap at Clonmel, delivering a double for jockey Ben Coen.
The six-year-old gelding initially dropped to the rear and appeared to have a challenging task ahead when a furlong and a half remained. Coen soon urged him forward, and they exploited a gap along the inner to make significant progress.
As they accelerated in the final 150 yards, En Or gained momentum and powered to a convincing victory by two and a half lengths at 8/1 for trainer Cathy O'Leary. Jabbar, the 7/2 second favourite, finished in second place.
O'Leary, who led up the winner, was thrilled by the result. Winning owner John Hartnett commented: "We just arrived from San Francisco two days ago and live in Silicon Valley. I’m originally from Limerick, and we have a house in north Tipperary, so winning the Tipperary Cup is fantastic."
He added: "We were really looking forward to the race. Ben executed the plan perfectly. The horse had run out of steam at Galway last time, but he seemed to have lost a bit of weight and was in better form today. He finished strongly."
In addition to his victory on En Or, Coen also secured a win in the third race aboard Bizarre Dreams for Johnny Murtagh.
