Economics might contest with City Of Troy at York

Economics, the impressive Dante winner trained by William Haggas, may skip the Sky Bet York Stakes next week as it could come too soon for the talented colt. After ruling out a run in the Epsom Derby earlier in the season, Haggas is now considering sending Economics to either the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano in France or the Juddmonte International next month.

While the York Stakes was initially considered as a possible return race for Economics, Haggas is now leaning towards giving the horse more time to prepare. A trip to Deauville or a potential clash with City Of Troy at York is also on the table for Economics.

Haggas mentioned in an interview on a podcast that Economics is on track and progressing well in training. He indicated that a decision on Economics' next race will be made after the colt's weekend workout.

Options for Economics include the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, a mile-and-a-quarter Group Two race in France without a penalty, or the Juddmonte International, where a penalty is also not a factor. Haggas emphasised the importance of having Economics in peak condition before deciding on his next race, and mentioned that anything is possible at this point.
