Dettori is back at Ascot but as a spectator

Some say Royal Ascot is incomplete without Frankie Dettori, the iconic Italian jockey who couldn't resist a visit to his favourite racing venue. Despite retiring in October and moving to America, Dettori made a special trip back to Ascot, where he has had many memorable moments in his illustrious career.

Known for his historic 'Magnificent Seven' in 1996 and his recent farewell ride in Britain, Dettori has now made the US his home but couldn't pass up the chance to attend his daughter's wedding and the Royal meeting. Reflecting on his time at Ascot, he spoke fondly of his long and successful career in the sport.

Although tempted by offers to ride at Ascot once more, Dettori stuck to his promise to retire last year and attended the races as a spectator. He shared his memories of past victories and the special moments he experienced at the prestigious event. With Ryan Moore closing in on his record of Royal Ascot wins, Dettori remains the leading rider for now.

As he enjoys watching the races and cheering on his favourite football teams in Euro 2024, Dettori hinted that his days of riding at Ascot may not be over for good. While he may not be returning to the saddle just yet, he left the door open for a possible comeback in the future. Fans of the legendary jockey can still hold out hope for another dazzling display of his famous flying dismounts.
