Daryl Jacob is set to take a significant step forward in his recovery from a collarbone injury by returning to riding out later this week.
The accomplished jockey, who recently joined the elite group of riders with 1,000 career wins, announced that this season will be his last in the saddle. However, his farewell campaign has been disrupted by injuries. After returning from surgery on a collarbone injury sustained in March, Jacob reached his milestone victory in October, only to suffer another setback during a schooling session at Henry de Bromhead’s yard in early November.
Jacob remains optimistic about his recovery:
“The recovery is going great. I’ll start riding out this week, probably at Harry Derham’s midweek, and take it from there.”
“We’re happy with how things are progressing, and I’m meeting my targets. I’ll see how it feels when I’m back in the saddle, but I’m hopeful it won’t be long before I’m back racing. Everything is going according to plan.”
With his rehab on track, Jacob looks determined to return to action and make the most of his final season in racing.
