Cox informed that Jasour is getting better following a gallops’ injury

Clive Cox has provided a positive update on Jasour following the gallops’ injury that ruled him out of the King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood.

The three-year-old, who was set to drop back to five furlongs for the Group Two race after being supplemented for £20,000, suffered an unfortunate setback during his final pre-race preparations in Lambourn on Wednesday. As a result, he missed the chance to compete while Big Evs triumphed on the Sussex Downs two days later.

Cox stated that the situation has improved significantly over the last 24 hours, despite the unfortunate timing of the injury. He remains hopeful for further progress in the coming week, as the injury has responded well to treatment.

Jasour is entered in both the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock on September 7 and the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh a week later. Cox has not yet decided on the colt's next steps, including the possibility of entering him for the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes at York this month.

Cox emphasised the importance of monitoring Jasour's progress before making any decisions, noting that if he continues to improve, various options will be available.
