Emmet Mullins' Corbetts Cross is set to take part in the highly anticipated William Hill Bowl Chase on the opening day of the Grand National.
The chestnut horse emerged victorious in the Maureen Mullins National Hunt Challenge Cup, triumphing by an impressive 17 lengths with Derek O'Connor as the jockey. The thrilling event took place at the renowned Cheltenham racecourse.
Following that impressive race, where he showcased his endurance and skill in challenging conditions, he will face a new test at Aintree as he transitions from a distance of three miles and six furlongs to three miles and a furlong.
Inothewayurthinkin is another contender in the three-mile novice race, so we opted to give Corbetts Cross a shot and assess our performance.
He's returning from Cheltenham, where he faced a challenging race, so he's diving into a difficult situation. However, if he performs admirably and completes the course, we'll be thrilled.
Shishkin, the current title holder under Nicky Henderson's guidance, has experienced a varied performance this season. Firstly, the horse declined to participate in the 1965 Chase at Ascot and subsequently faced defeat in the King George VI Chase.
After triumphing in the Denman Chase, he unfortunately had to skip the Gold Cup due to an inconclusive examination, which was a challenging time for Seven Barrows.
"Nico had a ride on him last Saturday and gave glowing feedback, so we're all set to go full steam ahead," Henderson shared with Unibet.
Unfortunately, he didn't have the best year, which meant we had to skip the Gold Cup.
