Constitution Hill looks “absolutely magnificent,” Henderson

Constitution Hill continues to thrive during his recovery after a challenging season last year.

The National Hunt racing star had only one appearance last term, securing a comfortable victory in the Christmas Hurdle. He was forced to miss defending his Champion Hurdle title due to a respiratory issue that developed after a disappointing racecourse gallop at Kempton. Additionally, a potential trip to Punchestown was scrapped when he was hospitalised with suspected colic.

Now back at Seven Barrows, Constitution Hill is in excellent condition, according to Nicky Henderson, though Henderson notes that the horse has not yet been asked to undertake any strenuous work.

The plan is to aim him for the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle on November 30.

Henderson told the PA news agency that Constitution Hill looks “absolutely magnificent,” noting that a few days of sunshine have greatly benefited him. He remarked that the horse appeared as though he had just returned from a beach in Barbados.

He further explained that Constitution Hill is currently doing minimal work, simply easing back into his routine, but he looks to be in excellent condition. Henderson acknowledged that there is still a considerable amount of time before any serious training begins, and fortunately, Newcastle, where they hope he will make his return, is still some time away.
