Champion National Hunt jockey Harry Cobden is facing a brief stint away from racing after potentially injuring knee ligaments during a fall at Stratford on Sunday.
Cobden, prominently featured in the ITV docuseries ‘Champions: Full Gallop’, was riding Kick Up A Storm for trainer Paul Nicholls in the Hiorns Hats Handicap Hurdle when he came off at the third hurdle. Consequently, he forfeited his remaining rides on the card, missing out on a victory as Nico de Boinville substituted admirably to guide Nicholls’ Matterhorn to success in the John Murtagh 60th Birthday Handicap Chase.
Nicholls told Racing TV: “I think he’s hurt some ligaments in his knee is what he said and he thought it would be two or three weeks off. If there’s a time of year to do that it’s now, so hopefully he’ll be back soon.”
