City Of Troy is a true favourite in the upcoming Eclipse race

City Of Troy will face seven rivals as he aims to add another Group One victory to his record in the upcoming Coral-Eclipse at Sandown this Saturday.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, City Of Troy had a disappointing start to the season with a poor performance in the 2000 Guineas but bounced back with an impressive win in the Derby last month. Now, he is heavily favoured to triumph in the 10-furlong race, with his stablemate Hans Andersen also set to compete.

White Birch, Continuous, and Luxembourg were among the initial entries for the race but did not make the final declaration. This will be the first time O’Brien brings a Derby winner to the Eclipse, and he is confident in City Of Troy's ability to perform well over the shorter distance.

Dancing Gemini, Jayarebe, Ghostwriter, and See The Fire will also be competing in the race, each with their own strengths and potential challenges to overcome.

Trainer Clive Cox is optimistic about Ghostwriter's chances on firmer ground, while Stay Alert will be looking to improve on her last race just a week ago at the Curragh.
