Chic Colombine shall race at Coronation Stakes following a challenging run

George Boughey is considering entering Chic Colombine in the Coronation Stakes after her challenging run at Epsom last Saturday.

Owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the same as Boughey's Guineas champion Cachet, Chic Colombine began her season with a victory in a Listed race in France. She then competed in the French 1000 Guineas.

In her latest outing in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes, a drop in class, she encountered difficulty finding clear running space and narrowly missed catching Breege, finishing just a neck behind.

Reflecting on the race, Boughey shared his thoughts, saying, "It was frustrating, but around Epsom, these things can happen. She's emerged from it in great shape, and now all options are on the table for her."

Boughey expressed his initial optimism for Chic Colombine in the French Guineas, but an unfavourable draw led them to adopt more conservative tactics. Despite the setback at Epsom, Boughey remains hopeful about her potential to compete at a higher level, though he hints at strategic planning depending on the race options available.

Regarding future plans, Boughey mentioned the Coronation Stakes as a possibility, with jockey William Buick already suggesting it as an option if the ground conditions suit Chic Colombine's style. Boughey concluded, "She's come out of the race in good spirits, and it's gratifying to have another talented runner for Highclere."
