Chester's Grosvenor Square on Classic trial at Chester

Grosvenor Square might join O'Brien`s Betfred Derby team when he headlines the six horses declared for Wednesday’s Boodles Chester Vase Stakes.

Ruler Of The World won this listed event in 2013 and went on to win at Epsom the following month, giving the Ballydoyle handler seven wins out of the last ten runnings.

Following City of Troy's disappointing performance in the 2000 Guineas, the top spot in O'Brien's Derby plans may be up for grabs. Grosvenor Square is a 12-1 shot to win the Premier Classic, and the race sponsors have shown promise in the Group Three Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown at the end of the previous season.

He is joined in the line-up by stablemate Agenda as Juddmonte looks to repeat its success from the previous year against Arrest, the St Leger runner-up, via Andrew Balding's Southwell scorer Cadogan Place.

Charlie Appleby's Hidden Law was defeated by the son of Frankel on that particular occasion. The opponent, however, once again made a lasting impression by winning convincingly at Newbury last month.

Watch live on Sky Sports Racing as John and Thady Gosden attempt to win two races in a row against Pappano, and Karl Burke's Golden West round out the sextet competing on the Roodee.

In addition, O'Brien is a major factor in the Weatherbys E-Passport Cheshire Oaks supporter, as both Port Fairy and Rubies Are Red are expected to post.

In order to win the Listed prize, the latter will need to reverse the fortunes of Galileo Dame, as Joseph O'Brien's daughter of Galileo Gold won their most recent meeting at Leopardstown by a margin of three and a half lengths.

There are nine runners in total, with the Gosdens' Beeley and Ralph Beckett's thrilling Wolverhampton winner Forest Fairy anticipated to be among the main protagonists.
