Chancellor is set for a return to Doncaster for the Betfred Champagne Stakes following his impressive comeback victory.
The Kingman colt made a strong debut at Town Moor in early July and was subsequently moved up in class for the Pat Eddery Stakes on King George Day at Ascot. Although he was an odds-on favourite, he finished third behind Al Qudra and the subsequent Stonehenge Stakes winner, New Century.
Connections believe Chancellor’s performance at Ascot didn’t reflect his true ability. Since then, he has bounced back with a commanding front-running win at Doncaster. As a result, he is now being prepared for a Group Two challenge at next month’s St Leger meeting.
