Bowen Returns to the Track at Huntingdon After Injury Hiatus

Sean Bowen, the title-chasing rider has received medical clearance to make his highly anticipated return to the racing scene at Huntingdon on Thursday.

Bowen, who had been sidelined since his unfortunate fall at Aintree on Boxing Day, has witnessed his commanding lead in the British jump jockeys' standings steadily diminished in recent weeks, courtesy of the exceptional performances by Harry Cobden. In the build-up to Tuesday's racing, Cobden impressively narrowed the gap to a mere five points, an achievement made even more remarkable considering the usual quiet period for his main supporter, Paul Nicholls.

However, Nicholls' runners have recently regained their form, as evidenced by Cobden's remarkable four consecutive victories at Musselburgh last Sunday. Bowen's return is eagerly awaited, and he will be reunited with the saddle aboard Roccovango, a promising new addition to Olly Murphy's team, in the highly competitive Mulberry Developments Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon. Murphy expressed his elation at having Bowen back in action, emphasising his invaluable role within the team and the admiration he garners from aspiring young jockeys. While acknowledging Cobden's remarkable talent and form, Murphy maintained his unwavering loyalty to Bowen. He expressed his desire for both riders to remain injury-free until the conclusion of the season, thus setting the stage for an enthralling battle for supremacy.

When assessing Roccovango's prospects, Murphy highlighted the 8-year-old brown gelding's impressive performances in novice races, instilling hope for a competitive showing and expressing the heartfelt wish of securing a victory for Sean Bowen on his much-anticipated comeback ride.
