Bobby Bennu claimed his second victory in three appearances in a close race at Thirsk. Trained by Roger Varian, the son of Phoenix Of Spain had previously finished second before winning by a large margin at Chester. In a competitive field that included Germanic, a Newcastle winner trained by William Haggas, Bennu, ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, held off the competition to win by a short head and a neck. Owner Tim Palin praised Bennu's determination and hinted at a potential future race at Goodwood.
Raphael Freire celebrated his first British victory with Li Ban in the British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes. After a slow start with his previous runners, Freire secured a win for Amo Racing as De Sousa guided Li Ban to victory. Adrian Nicholls also enjoyed success with Ingleby Archie, who followed up a recent win at Redcar by holding off Scoops Ahoy in the JW 4X4 Northallerton Handicap. Despite concerns about his form, Ingleby Archie regained confidence with this win.
