Sir Bob continued his winning streak in Cork, securing his third victory on his third visit to the city. This time, he triumphed in the three-mile handicap hurdle race, under the guidance of trainer Robert Tyner. Owned by JP McManus, the experienced horse had previously claimed victory in the Cork Grand National in November and had also won a race over timber at the same venue in April 2022.
Jockey Mark Walsh skillfully piloted the 8/1 shot, taking the lead as they approached the third last hurdle. With determination and strength, Sir Bob surged ahead in the final stages of the race, ultimately crossing the finish line with a length-and-a-half advantage over Aodhan May.
In his previous outing, just 11 days ago, the winner had secured a second-place finish in a veterans handicap chase at Limerick.
"We are thrilled to get that as we were worried about running him back so soon after Limerick. When the ground was like this I said I'd keep going and three miles suited,” said Tyner. "The minute he jumped the third hurdle I knew he was on song and was loving it. He really likes around here, seems to love the hurdles here and won here three years ago when it was like the river.”
