Juddmonte has officially announced the retirement of Bluestocking, the brilliant winner of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The Camelot filly, trained by Ralph Beckett, achieved significant success during her career, securing five victories from 13 starts. Her notable achievements include Group One wins in the Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland and the Prix Vermeille in France, culminating in her recent triumph at Europe’s most prestigious middle-distance race.
Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s European racing manager, expressed gratitude for Bluestocking’s contributions over the past three seasons, acknowledging the excellent care provided by Beckett and his team at Kimpton Down Stables. While Bluestocking and American champion Idiomatic will transition to broodmare duties in 2025, Juddmonte's Champions Day winner, Kalpana, will continue her racing career next season, aiming for further elite successes.
Douglas Erskine Crum, Juddmonte’s chief executive, noted the rarity of having three exceptional fillies in their program simultaneously, leading to crucial decisions as the season concludes. He mentioned Idiomatic’s retirement due to a minor injury but highlighted her impressive record of five Grade One wins, establishing her as the premier filly and mare in the USA over the past two years. Both Bluestocking and Idiomatic will enhance Juddmonte’s broodmare roster, while plans for their mating will be finalised later. Additionally, Juddmonte unveiled its 2025 European stallion fees, with the renowned Frankel set to stand for £350,000.
