Bluestocking might return to competing against her own sex in the Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks following her strong second-place finish in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
The only filly in the King George lineup, Ralph Beckett’s four-year-old put in a commendable performance, finishing behind the impressive French contender Goliath. This result came after her first Group One victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh and a dominant win in the Middleton Stakes at York on her reappearance.
Given her excellent form, it seems a logical move for connections to target the Yorkshire Oaks at Knavesmire on August 21. Bluestocking is reported to be in top shape after Ascot.
Barry Mahon, European racing manager for Juddmonte, shared that Ralph reported Bluestocking is in excellent form after her last race. Mahon expressed excitement about her performance and potential this year. He praised her competition history, noting victories over top horses like Auguste Rodin and Luxembourg. Mahon mentioned they will evaluate her readiness for the York race, considering that races are spaced out well this season. Given her success at York, including last year's Yorkshire Oaks, it would be a logical next step if she remains fit.
