Bedtime Story`s Triumph at Leopardstown

Bedtime Story caused an upset by outperforming the heavily favoured Giselle in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Leopardstown. Both horses, trained by Aidan O’Brien, were debutants with impressive pedigrees as daughters of Frankel. Giselle, ridden by Ryan Moore and the favourite at 8-11, was expected to perform well due to her breeding from Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Newspaperofrecord.

However, it was Bedtime Story, ridden by Wayne Lordan and priced at 5-1, who surged ahead late in the race to win by a length and a quarter. Bedtime Story is also from a strong lineage, being the offspring of dual Nunthorpe victor Mecca’s Angel, who has already produced another successful racehorse in Content.

O’Brien’s representative, Chris Armstrong commented on the race, noting that both fillies showed promise and that it was a tough decision for Moore to choose between them. Despite Giselle’s solid performance, Bedtime Story’s professionalism and potential for future success were evident in her victory. There is speculation that both horses may be considered for the Chesham, and Armstrong believes Bedtime Story has the potential to excel over longer distances.

Overall, Bedtime Story’s unexpected win showcased her talent and pedigree, positioning her as a promising contender in future races.
