Andrea Atzeni is gearing up for his second season in Hong Kong after a successful brief return to the UK. During his summer break from the Hong Kong racing calendar, Atzeni made a winning return to Newmarket, echoing his farewell victory last year with Lezoo in the Hopeful Stakes.
Despite this win, Atzeni is set to return to Hong Kong, where he had a strong first season with 48 winners and a fourth-place finish in the jockeys’ championship. He is excited about continuing in Hong Kong, appreciating the tactical challenges and high prize money the region offers.
Atzeni acknowledged the demanding nature of Hong Kong racing, with its intense 10-month schedule and high level of competition. He noted that, although the racing occurs only twice a week, significant behind-the-scenes work is required, including booking rides and analysing handicaps.
He is confident that the experience has improved his skills and looks forward to another successful season.
