Art Power Set for Sprint Title Defense

Tim Easterby’s Art Power is gearing up to reclaim his title in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot this Saturday.

The popular grey horse showcased a stunning front-running display under David Allan last season, winning at impressive odds of 40-1. While his favourite venue remains the Curragh, where he has celebrated four Group victories, his track record suggests that Ascot holds a special charm for him as well.

Before clinching the Champions Sprint last year, the King Power-owned gelding had finished in the top three on two occasions in the same race. Notably, he also won the 2020 Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap during the Royal meeting and secured third place in the 2021 Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Easterby is optimistic about the upcoming race, particularly with the soft ground conditions he knows Art Power enjoys. He remarked, “He’s in great form, and we’ve been anticipating this race. He’ll appreciate the ground, and he has a fondness for the track, too. We’re absolutely delighted with him."

Art Power has consistently delivered strong performances at Ascot, and Easterby reflects on last year's victory fondly, stating, "It was a fantastic day. He’s a remarkable horse, and we’re truly pleased with how he’s doing.”
