The future of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Bluestocking remains undecided, but it has been confirmed that she will not race again this year. Owned by Juddmonte, the four-year-old has had an exceptional season under trainer Ralph Beckett, claiming her third Group One victory with a stunning performance at ParisLongchamp, where she secured Europe's richest middle-distance title with jockey Rossa Ryan.
Although her triumph in the Arc would be a fitting conclusion to her racing career, the prospect of a return at five is now being considered, as she appears to be in top form. However, her owners have ruled out further competition this year, including at Qipco British Champions Day or the Breeders' Cup.
"She’s in great form. Ralph mentioned she hasn’t stopped eating since returning, and she's doing great," said Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s European racing manager. "We won’t send her to Ascot as we already have Kalpana and Time Lock for that event. Now we’ll sit down with the owners and decide whether she’ll stay in training or retire."
While Bluestocking’s next steps are yet to be determined, Mahon emphasised that the decision will rest with the owners. "Either way, we will be happy with whatever they decide. She’s done enough this year, and Del Mar isn’t an option, so we’ll wait and see what the future holds."
