Anmaat is set to make a highly anticipated return to racing in Saturday’s Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock, a race he won impressively two years ago.
Trained by Owen Burrows, the six-year-old last competed in May 2023, securing victory in the Group One Prix d’Ispahan. He was slated to run in last year’s Eclipse but was sidelined due to a complex foot issue that has kept him off the track since then.
Burrows shared his optimism about the upcoming race: “If all goes well, he’ll run as planned. We’re hopeful there won’t be any last-minute issues.” He praised the horse's recent form, noting a strong workout before last year's Eclipse despite tough competitors. Burrows highlighted the benefits of the horse's extended break due to a complex foot issue and expressed eagerness for his return. He noted the horse prefers not to firm ground, as conditions in France were tougher than expected. With rain expected Thursday, he hopes for ideal good ground.
