Amateur jockey Alice Procter suffered a serious fall at Cartmel racecourse on Saturday while riding Uggy Uggy Uggy for trainer Keiran Burke. After falling at the second hurdle, Procter was attended to on the track before being airlifted to Preston Hospital for further evaluation.
A statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund on Sunday morning provided an update on Procter's condition, stating that she had reported back pain and underwent scans before being taken to the operating theatre by the spinal team. She is currently in intensive care with her family by her side, and more updates will be provided as they become available.
