After a disappointing defeat, Matsuri is set to race in Glasgow

After his performance in defeat in the Irish Derby, Matsuri is set to return to calmer waters momentarily.

Trained by Roger Varian, the talented colt had missed out on several Classic trials due to an interrupted spring. Despite this setback, he showcased his ability at the Irish Derby with a strong fourth-place finish, only beaten by a length and a half by Los Angeles.

The Matsuri team were left contemplating what could have been on the day as the son of Sea The Stars was short of room during his late challenge.

Confident in Matsuri's potential at the highest level, Varian is now considering a step-down in grade for his next race, with the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton a likely option.

Varian praised Matsuri's performance, stating that he belongs at a high level despite lacking race experience. He plans to give the colt more race experience before potentially returning to the top company later in the year.

Overall, Varian is pleased with Matsuri's progress and believes he has the potential to be a top-level horse in the future.
