A Guide for Pinstickers to the 2024 Aintree Field, Including the Grand National Runners and Tips

Discover the expert insights of David Ord in his comprehensive horse-by-horse guide to Saturday's Randox Grand National, complete with his 1-2-3-4-5 score.

Horse-by-Horse Guide

CONFLATED: There are more Liverpool alternatives this week than a visitor entering Lime Street Station—a class performer who did well in Ryanair but would struggle on the predicted ground.

NOBLE YEATS: He comments about his huge weight and challenging ground, yet he won the National (2022) and finished fourth last year. Harry Cobden is a good booking because of his recent hurdles success and track performance.

NASSALAM: He won the Coral Welsh National over Christmas on difficult ground but struggled in the Gold Cup. He might easily recover because the exam should suit him, but he added 16 lbs for Chepstow. It doesn't help.

CAPODANNO: He pulled up in the race last year due to an interrupted preparation. Interestingly, his top team is returning. The Ryanair was an insufficient stamina test, but would four miles and two furlongs be too much?

AM MAXIMUS Last year's Irish Grand National champion beat Vanillier in the Bobbyjo Chase, a promising preview of Saturday's showpiece in previous years. It's an 'if' since he has his style of travelling from A to B and will need to build a rhythm over the first few obstacles.

Corach Rambler leads the market as he seeks to replicate last year's performance, but pricing must be considered.

After his performance in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, MEETINGOFTHEWATERS is my pick, but Panda Boy, second to the selection in Ireland over Christmas, should prove a handful again.

Galia Des Liteaux is an excellent each-way bet since she enjoys tests. Mahler Mission must succeed at a higher cost. The Goffer performed better than his Cheltenham result suggests and may surprise some.
